Your car dies on Hawthorne Boulevard after the mall lets out. Or you stall on the 405 shoulder south of the 110 split. You need a Torrance tow you can request at 1 a.m., and you need a clear next step.
Late-night pickups near Del Amo, Hawthorne Blvd, and the 405
Torrance sits in the middle of the South Bay. Hawthorne and Gardena sit north. Lawndale is a tight grid between them. Redondo Beach and the PCH edge sit west. Carson and the 110 sit east.
Night calls cluster on a few corridors. Del Amo Boulevard past the Fashion Center. Hawthorne Boulevard along the commercial spine. Crenshaw and Western after the last shift. The 405 through Torrance, especially the ramps onto 190th Street, Artesia Boulevard, and Torrance Boulevard.
A dead battery in a Del Amo garage is one kind of night. A disabled car in a 405 gore point is another. The garage job may only need roadside assistance. The shoulder job needs emergency towing and a clear story if CHP is already on scene.
Gardena searchers already look for 24 hour towing. That city shares the same night pattern. Surface streets, then a short hop onto the 405 or the 110. If you’re in Gardena, Lawndale, or Hawthorne, say the city and the cross street. South Bay grids look alike on a map. They feel different at 2 a.m. with the hazards on.
PCH at the Redondo edge is its own night. Tighter shoulders. More late beach traffic. More motorcycles mixed with cars. Tell dispatch if you’re on PCH, a Torrance residential street, or a freeway shoulder. The operator we send needs that before they roll.
Name the landmark, then tighten it. Near Del Amo is a start. South lot, closest to Madrona, is better. Hawthorne Boulevard is long. Give a cross street: Torrance Boulevard, Carson Street, 182nd, 190th, or Artesia. Operators in our network work this grid. They still need the pin.
Redondo Beach and the Palos Verdes climb change the staging. Hills, narrow streets, and less room for a truck. Say if you’re on a slope. Say if the car is in a tight garage or under a low clearance bar. A wheel-lift and a flatbed are different asks.
Stay out of the travel lane while you wait. Put the hazards on. NHTSA roadside safety is the federal baseline for a shoulder. We are not the California Highway Patrol. If CHP is already there, tell dispatch on the first call.
Quick Tow LA connects you with a licensed local operator. The driver who shows is the one dispatched for that call. We don’t run a Torrance yard, and we don’t drive the truck.
Street, lot, and freeway calls are not the same
Three Torrance calls look alike on the phone. They split on the ground.
A street call is your car on a public Torrance, Gardena, Hawthorne, or Lawndale street. You asked for the tow. You pick the drop. You pay the operator. That is a private service call.
A lot call is a shopping center, apartment garage, or office lot. Private-property towing in California is set out in Vehicle Code 22658. The property must post a sign at each entrance. The sign has to be 17 by 22 inches, with lettering at least one inch high. It has to list the enforcement agency phone and each tow company’s name and contact. The party who authorizes the tow must notify local law enforcement within one hour. A charge is excessive if it exceeds the greater of the local contract rate or the operator’s CHP-approved rate. If you return before the vehicle is in transit, you may demand immediate release for no more than half the posted tow charge.
We could not confirm Torrance’s local contract rate. Ask the yard for the posted rate before you pay.
A freeway call on the 405 or the 110 is a CHP problem first. CHP clears disabled and collision vehicles through the Rotation Tow Program. CHP does not publish one statewide rate. Operators submit rates under a Tow Service Agreement. CHP may reject a rate as excessive. If you already called us, and CHP then assigns a rotation truck, tell both. Two trucks cannot hook the same car.
Police tows and private tows split the same way. City of Los Angeles Official Police Garage rates apply inside the City of Los Angeles. Torrance is its own city. Those OPG numbers do not travel south onto Hawthorne Boulevard. For a walk through the published City of LA figures, see what towing can cost in Los Angeles. Treat that as City of LA agency math, dated as of January 1, 2026. It is not a Torrance private-tow menu.
Long Beach, just east of this belt, runs its own vehicle storage facility and publishes its own schedule. Torrance is a different city with a different program. If your night is actually a Long Beach after-hours impound, read after-hours towing in Long Beach. Keep the two cities straight on the phone.
Emergency roadside service is its own product. A jump, a spare, a lockout, or a fuel can may leave the car where it sits. A tow is when the car has to leave. Say which one you want so the operator we send brings the right truck.
What to have ready when you call
Start with the city. Torrance, Gardena, Hawthorne, Lawndale, or Redondo Beach. Then the nearest cross streets. Then whether you are on a street, in a lot, or on a freeway shoulder.
Have the plate, make, model, and color. Say if it is low, an EV, a motorcycle, or a truck. Say if it is in park or in gear. Say if a wheel is locked or a tire is off the rim. Say if the car is in a parking garage with a height bar.
Say where you want it to go. Home in Old Torrance. A shop on Hawthorne. A dealer on the auto row. A driveway in Gardena. If you do not have a destination yet, say that too.
If CHP or Torrance police are on scene, say so. If someone already authorized a private-property tow, say that before a second truck rolls. If you have a CHP or police incident number, read it off.
Keep yourself out of the travel lane. If you are on the 405, stay off the pavement behind the car. If you are in a Del Amo structure, meet the driver at a named level and a named column if you can.
You do not need to guess the equipment. Tell the facts. The operator we send chooses the truck from that.
Have a payment method ready for the operator. This brand has no signed rate card, so there is no Quick Tow LA price to quote. The driver on scene quotes their own rate. Ask for it before the hook. Ask what is included: hookup, mileage, night labor, and storage if they hold the car overnight. Get the company name on the door.
If the car is an EV, say the brand and whether it is in tow mode. Tell them if it is a dual-motor car. Let the operator decide between a wheel-lift and a flatbed. Your job is to say what the car is.
Call any time, day or night. Name Torrance or Gardena first. Then the nearest major street.
South Bay drop-off choices without inventing yards
Quick Tow LA does not run a Torrance storage yard. The brand refers the job. You contract with the operator. You name the drop.
Useful drops in this belt are the ones you already know. Your mechanic. Your dealer. Your driveway. A shop a friend trusts. Hawthorne Boulevard and the streets around Del Amo are dense with service bays. We list no unverified yards here, and we do not hold your car.
Give a street address. Somewhere in the South Bay wastes the night. Old Torrance, the industrial pocket near Western, a Gardena shop off 190th, or a Redondo address near PCH are all real drops. They only work if the driver can punch them into a map.
If the car was taken in a private-property tow, the destination is the company named on the lot sign. Call that number. CVC 22658 requires the company’s name and contact on the entrance sign.
If the car was taken in a police impound, the holding place is whoever that agency uses. We could not confirm a Torrance Police Department lot address, phone, or after-hours release window against a primary source. Skip the City of Los Angeles OPG lookup for a Torrance police tow. The OPGLA VIIC database at opglaviic.com is the City of Los Angeles finder. It is the wrong tool for a Torrance, Gardena, or Redondo Beach impound.
Ask the officer on scene which company took it. Ask for the report or incident number. Then call that yard. Pay after you know who has the car.
If you still have the keys and the car is yours to move, you pick the drop. If you need the car held overnight, that storage is the operator’s yard. Ask their hours before you hang up. After-hours pickup rules vary by yard. Torrance does not publish a citywide gate schedule we could verify.
A South Bay tow truck is only as useful as the address on the other end. Pick one. Then stay reachable until the car is on the bed.
What we could not confirm about Torrance after-hours rules
This part matters more than a tidy number.
We could not confirm a Torrance city tow fee, storage fee, or after-hours release fee. Those figures are not in our approved claims file. If a yard quotes you a number, ask them to show the posted rate. Then confirm it with that yard or with Torrance Police Department. Torrance sets its own program. We will not guess it.
We could not confirm Torrance Police Department’s after-hours vehicle-release process, lot hours, or contractor list. Long Beach publishes a city facility at 3111 E. Willow Street, open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sunday and holidays. The City of Los Angeles publishes Official Police Garage rates as of January 1, 2026, including a $220.00 first-hour standard tow on a credit card and $68.00 daily storage for a standard vehicle on a credit card. Torrance sits in neither of those systems.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department runs no central impound. Each station directs its own tow. Torrance is a city with its own police department, so an LASD script is the wrong template.
We could not confirm a live picture of police activity in Torrance. No blog post can. If you are in danger, call 911. For a traffic or incident check, use Torrance Police or CHP channels.
We do not publish a Quick Tow LA price. CHP rotation rates are set through the Tow Service Agreement, not a single statewide number. Private Torrance tows are quoted by the operator on the call.
California law still applies when a local dollar figure is missing. Peace officers may remove a vehicle under Vehicle Code 22651 for listed causes, including a hazard, a driver arrest, five or more unpaid citations, 72-plus hours on a street, and registration expired more than six months. A 30-day impound can apply under Vehicle Code 14602.6 when a driver is unlicensed or driving on a suspended or revoked license. The agency must notify the legal owner by certified mail within two working days. Failure caps the charge at 15 days. The owner must be offered a storage hearing under Vehicle Code 22852. Those are state rules. They are not a Torrance price list.
If someone tells you a City of LA storage rate is the Torrance rate, ask which city ordered the tow. The $68.00 daily figure above is the City of LA Official Police Garage rate as of January 1, 2026, for a standard vehicle paid by credit card. It does not bind a Torrance street, a Del Amo lot, or a 405 shoulder.
Ask the agency that ordered the tow. Ask the yard that has the car. Not confirmed is the honest answer until they show you the posted rate.
When to call us
Call when the car cannot stay where it is, and you should not drag it with a rope. A dead car on Hawthorne, a stall on the 405 shoulder, or a locked-up EV in a Del Amo garage is work for a licensed operator. Call (213) 410-1414 to reach dispatch.
