You want a truck to move a car in Los Angeles. You are the hirer. That is a different job from “my car was already towed,” and a different job from a property manager running a CVC 22658 private-lot removal. How to get a car towed here means: call a licensed operator, describe the car and the spot, and agree on the drop before anyone hooks.

First: the car is yours, it will not roll, and you need it at a shop, a driveway, or a lot. Dead battery that a jump will not save. Blown tire with no spare. Accident that still leaves you in charge of the hire. That is emergency towing or roadside, and you pick the destination.

Second: a car is blocking your driveway or sitting in your stall, and you have the right to have it moved. If that car is on your private property, stop and use how to tow a car from your Los Angeles property. That page is the owner and manager statute. This page is not a shortcut around posted signs, photos, and the one-hour police notice.

Third: you think the City or CHP should take it. A 72-hour sitter on a public street, a hazard, five unpaid citations. You report that. You do not dispatch the City truck. Use the 72-hour rule or 311. If the car is already gone, use find your towed car.

Quick Tow LA connects LA County callers with licensed operators. We do not hold a Motor Carrier Permit. You contract with the operator, and you pay them. We do not publish a brand price. No operator with a signed rate card is on file.

What to have ready before you call

Location a driver can find. Not “near the 101.” The off-ramp, the cross street, the building name, the garage level, the stall. Highland Park driveway, Koreatown tandem stall, a shoulder on the 110: those are different trucks.

The car. Make, model, color, plate if you have it. Whether it will roll. Whether it is AWD, an EV, lowered, or loaded. Whether anyone is with it.

Your standing. Are you the owner? The driver? The property manager? A neighbor who is only annoyed? An operator needs the person who can authorize the tow. If you do not own it and you are not the property, you may not be the hirer.

The drop. Home, a named shop, a lot you can access. A tow with no destination is not a complete call. Distance changes the bill. See long-distance towing if the drop is across the county.

If the car is AWD, ask for a flatbed. If it is an EV, it belongs on a bed. If it is in sand off PCH, that is a winch-out first.

Street, structure, freeway, and private lot

On a City street, you can hire a private operator to move a car you own. You cannot hire one to snatch a stranger’s street-legal car because you dislike it. Report sitters through 311. A peace officer may remove a vehicle under CVC 22651 when the statute fits: hazard, stolen, blocking a driveway, driver arrested, five or more unpaid citations, 72-plus hours, expired registration, and the rest of that list. That is an agency tow, then an Official Police Garage, not our dispatch.

In a structure, say the height bar and the stall. A full-size wrecker often will not fit. The operator we send may use a wheel-lift for a two-wheel-drive compact, or may winch to a deck outside.

On a CHP highway, the California Highway Patrol Rotation Tow Program may already own the job. If an officer is there, follow them. Get out of live lanes. NHTSA treats a stopped car on a high-speed shoulder as a crash risk.

On a private lot, the property’s sign and CVC 22658 control an unauthorized-car removal. If you are the owner of the dead car in that lot, you are hiring a recovery, not a 22658 enforcement tow. Say that clearly.

What the call looks like, and what it costs in public numbers

You call (213) 410-1414. Dispatch matches the job to a licensed, insured operator. They quote their number before they hook. If the job changes from a short hook to a bed, or from a local drop to a Valley shop, get the new number.

City Official Police Garage rates are not that quote. As of January 1, 2026, the OPG standard-vehicle tow is $220.00 for the first hour at the credit-card rate, plus $12.00 per mile, plus storage if the City holds it. Those figures are for police-ordered tows. They reset every January 1. They are useful context. They are not the private operator’s invoice.

Long Beach, Burbank, and Pasadena publish their own impound boards. Those boards also are not a private hire.

Ask where the car will sit if you cannot take it tonight. Storage is a daily clock on any yard. Confirm hours and ID before you assume you can pick it up at 2 a.m. City OPG release hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private operator’s yard is their own window.

When this is the wrong page

If the car was already towed, you need the lot, not a second truck. If you are a manager towing an unauthorized car off your property, you need the six-step 22658 page. If you want the City to take a sitter, you need 311 and the 72-hour rule. If you want to junk a car you own, use cash for junk cars and the paperwork guide.

When to call us

Call when you are the person who can hire the truck, the car will not roll or must leave, and no agency already assigned a rotation or Official Police Garage tow. Call (213) 410-1414 to reach dispatch.
